Fluffy links & Knut – 20th March 2007

Nicolas Sarkozy has a pretty flashy site for his election campaign.

Just noticed Google Sketchup and the Google “Build Your Campus in 3D Competition

Twittermaps is pretty cool – works well in Berlin as every Street is in the map’s database. Twittervision is amazing to have a look at too, especially for people who don’t know what twitter is, but then again, twittering (or is it tweeting) with people you know/admire makes it a lot more interesting.

Up until Knut came along, a video of a German Army parade was my most popular youtube video by far. Today, Knut overtook the Bundeswehr and also claimed a milestone – 10,000 views and speeding towards 20,000 (currently 17,539). Helped by a link from “Blick” – something like The Sun in Switzerland – over 5500 clicks.

Knut is in danger though – some animal rights activists don’t believe he can’t live a normal life as a polar bear and should be put down! The zoo has rejected these calls so far. The latest video of Knut then (he has to start getting used to the water, is 8.2kg and will soon be in the zoo for all to see):

UPDATE: Knut was never really in danger. Apparently it was only one man Frank Albrecht, and he believed that Knut should have died when his mother rejected him. The papers took this to mean that he wanted Knut to be put down but this isn’t the case at all.
